Being specialists in the art of building seawalls, our clients contacted us as their current seawall was in disarray and needed to be restored.
Our design team got to work on creating a structurally sturdy and natural looking design. Every detail was planned and organized to ensure the demolition and restriction of the wall would stand the test of time, while creating a picturesque view. In collaboration with environmental engineers, we put all measures in place to ensure the natural habitat of Lac St-Louis would not be harmed in the process of this project.
Before any work was done to the seawall, we installed a Sediment Barrier in Lac St-Louis. This temporary barrier was built to prevent any debris from the excavation process from getting into the lake. After that was solidified, the existing seawall was demolished, removed and disposed of to prepare for reconstruction. Four layers of large 22″ stones were stacked, wrapped in membrane and backfilled to ensure a sturdy, stone wall.
Soil pockets were added between the levels to allow for vegetation. Large natural stone steps were adjusted to create a clear path from their pool deck to the edge of the lake. A large flagstone patio was built, at the edge of the seawall, to create a relaxing seating area to enjoy during the summer, and transform into a storage area in the winter. Flagstone was also used to refresh their front walkway entrance in a “crazy work” pattern to further compliment their landscape and have a cohesive design throughout the property.
Final touches of river stones, sod, and plantings were added to complete the look. The result is a solid, gorgeous seawall with enhanced landscaped areas. Lush grass and colorful plantings surrounding their patios and walkways to create a unique everlasting peaceful backyard they can enjoy for summers to come!
